It All Begins With The Onboarding Dashboard
This article highlights three onboarding tasks that are all accessible from the Onboarding Dashboard. The dashboard is your central hub for managing onboarding tasks. You access that from your landing page by clicking “Home” and selecting “Onboarding” from the dropdown list.

Once you are at the Onboarding Dashboard (see image to the left), you can locate the new hire by entering their name in the “New Hire:” search field and click “Go”. You then click the blue arrow on the right end of their row. This will bring you to the “New Hire Details” page to access the “New Hire Tasks” tab that has all the functions we are going to discuss in this edition of Fun Fact Friday.

Here, browse the available tasks and click “Start” next to the specific task you want to start. As you can see in this screenshot, once you have completed a task, the Action link changes from “Start” to “View Details”.
Sending a Welcome Message to a New Hire

A welcome message sets the tone for a positive new hire experience. When you click “Start” next to the Write Welcome Message (1) task, the screen to the left appears. A pre-populated template is automatically included in the message as a starting point. Make any necessary edits to the message, such as adding their name in the greeting and yours to the signature line. Then, click submit.
After you click OK on the success confirmation pop-up box, you have sent the Welcome Message to the new hire and completed this onboarding task.
Assign a Buddy to the New Hire

Now that you have officially welcomed your new hire via the New Hire Welcome Message, the next step is for you to assign them a “buddy” for their onboarding experience. This step is optional, however, it is a great opportunity for the new hire to have someone familiar whom they can contact during the onboarding process.
After clicking Start next to the Assign a Buddy to New Hires (2) task, you are directed to the Assign a Buddy to New Hires screen. Search for the employee by name, select them, and add a note.
Once you submit the buddy assignment, a Success dialog box confirms the action. With that, you successfully assigned a Buddy to the new hire.
Prepare the New Hire for Day 1

Preparing the new hire for their first day is essential for setting them up for success. The new system has an onboarding task called “Prepare for New Hire’s Day 1”. This task enables you to send a message to the new hire that outlines items they need for their first day, such as their passport, temporary parking pass, license, and anything specific they should know about before their first day. This page displays recommendations for you to include in your note. Type out your message, including things they need to bring or know, then click Submit.
By streamlining onboarding tasks, such as sending a welcome message, assigning a buddy, and preparing for the new hire’s first day; SuccessFactors ensures a smooth and efficient process for new employees and departments. This new solution sets the stage for a positive start to the new hire's journey at 玉米视频 State College and/or the University of 玉米视频!
Please Note: Onboarding tasks vary by campus. Departments collaborate with their human resources office to identify onboarding tasks for new employees.
