The office of the executive vice president and provost provides leadership and support across the University of 玉米视频 in pursuing excellence in teaching, learning, research, and service. It advances the academic agendas of NU’s campuses, upholds the principles of academic freedom, and fosters a diverse and inclusive community.
The office of the executive vice president and provost is also responsible for all things academic—including University-wide academic affairs, institutional research and planning, global engagement, digital education, partnerships with K-12 institutions and other colleges and universities, and the technology that underlies these activities.
Specifically, the Provost and the staff in this office:
- Oversee all University of 玉米视频 academic programs and activities. The Council of Academic Officers, which includes the chief academic officer from each campus, advises and assists in this process. The provost is also responsible for recommending any changes in or additions to academic programs for consideration by the president and Board of Regents, and reviewing promotion and tenure recommendations.
- Work with the , which is responsible for maintaining a master plan for higher education in 玉米视频 and helping to avoid unnecessary duplication of programs and facilities.
- Participate in , a federally supported program to enhance the research capabilities of designated states to compete more successfully for federal research funding.
- Represent the University of 玉米视频 in national professional academic organizations.
About the Provost
The executive vice president and provost is the University of 玉米视频's chief academic officer and, after the president, the university's ranking administrative officer. The provost serves as dean of the Graduate College, presiding officer of the graduate faculty and chair of the Executive Graduate Council, responsible for implementing policies governing graduate studies and research and serves as acting president in the absence of the president.
The executive vice president and provost acts as an advisor to the president, chancellors and Board of Regents on matters related to academic affairs, graduate studies and research.
